This group show is based on an abstracted theme of ‘Time and Tide’, drawing from the title of Tofino-based artist Deanna Lankin’s oil painting.
The proverb “Time and Tide Wait for None” means simply that people cannot stop the passing of time and, therefore, should not delay doing things that are important, necessary or fulfilling. These actions are individual and collective, and the works exhibited express in some way the idea of what’s important, relevant, pressing and extant.
Artworks range from representational landscapes to expressionist ones, figurative and ceramic sculpture, photography and abstract painting. The theme’s reference can be found in the name of the artwork alone, inviting one to consider the idea of what’s meaningful in life, uniting physical place, a name, action or intent.
